Spring Mix; Best You've Ever Had

Made a little spring playlist for you guys! I tried to keep it upbeat and summer-ish (well that's what I think of it anyway). Sorry I haven't been updating as frequently... School and the like's been keeping me pretty busy. It's not that I'm stressed though. Usually around this time of year I get into this "f this, f that" mentality. I come home from school, have a snack, take a nap, go on the internet... and repeat five days a week. My life. It's exciting. I don't know how many entry's I'll have time to post this week. Friday is when I have the biggest exam of my entire schooling career (so far). It's my AP history test which entails; 80 multiple choice, 2 essays, 1 dbq. The test is 3 hours. So if anyone knows where the closest bridge to my house is, you know where I'll be Thursday night.

I just realized this, but I have serious comma usage errors. Don't hate.

Playground Love

Surprisingly, I had an above decent day today. I'm starting to think that I function better on three hours of sleep... I felt unusually energetic, and hyped up on life. Or maybe it finally clicked that it's the final marking period of school and that I need to kick some serious ass. Which means no more repeats of last night. I blame my accessible internet access. Yeah, I guess you could say it's pretty useless. There's no way I can reshape my study habits. Procrastination has been my mantra since day one of Preschool. I was the only kid beading my macaroni necklace on the way to school. You know I think I'll just keep on winging it. Eventually it'll end up biting me in the ass, but until then I look forward to spending more late night quality times with Word and Google. Oh and career day just confirmed my thoughts on not having any idea what to do with my life. I have vague ideas about what I'd like to be doing, but I'm going to need a salary where I don't have to charge by the hour and that doesn't take place during shady hours of the night...

Reasons why I'm awake at 2:00AM writing my English paper that was assigned two weeks ago.

1. Because I'm still in hardcore chill mode from spring break.
2. Because I go on tumblr and skype.
3. Because I have no concept of time.
4. Because I underestimated the amount of work required in this assignment.
5. All I can focus on is Shakespeare's collared shirts. thatissounsignificantgetyourshittogetherleah.

He was a decent guy. Romeo and Juliet isn't that bad. Girl loves boy, boy loves girl. Girl kills self, boy kills self. You win some, you lose some. Is that even relevant right now? It's 2:00 in the morning, everything is relevant. The number of fans in my room is relevant (2). What I'm having for breakfast is relevant (nutella toast). What I'm wearing to school is relevant (nothing, f that). I just sound really bitter. Like a granny smith apple, or the powder at the bottom of a sour patch kids packet. WHY AM I SO CYNICAL AND MISERABLE. My mother's not like this. We were on a "family nature walk" yesterday and she told me that I should stop and touch all the trees because then we can become a part of nature? I don't remember. Something along those lines. I think it's just teenage angst, and school. Sorry for the lack of quality lately. Haha. Funny Leah, quality in your blog? GOOD ONE.

This always makes me happy.

The Wonders of Craigslist.

If you've never checked out the personal section of craigslist, let me tell you... You're missing out on a really fun time, and depending on the type of person you are I could be meaning that in the most literal sense. Winky faces are implied, if you catch my drift. There's someone out there for everyone! For instance, we have your;

Hipsters

World of Warcraft Players

And just plain Horndogs (80% of Craigslist)

I think if I ever crafted up a personal add it would look something like this;

W4M or W4W (DOESN'T MATTER AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A FACE, AND CAN BREATH:ON YOUR OWN)

Welp for starters, I am a short Asian girl. I have black hair, and dark brown eyes. I'd like to think I have fairly straight teeth. I mean I had braces, but I didn't wear my retainer as often as I should have... I digress. I'm not going to go into too much detail with a facial description. Let's just say I have two eyes, a nose, and mouth. 5/10 at best, but appearances don't matter because my sparkling personality makes up for any physical traits I lack! loljokes. Hopefully if you started to read my personal, you didn't just stop at "I am a short Asian girl"(some of you are into that) because you'd be in for a real treat... OKAY, but it really just comes down to the fact that I like food, music, and the internet. Those seem like pretty general fields of interest so I think I could small talk my way through a dinner or something. Actually no, let's watch a movie because that doesn't require conversation and don't even try anything. Hello I am a girl from the internet~ Let's just say personal space should not be invaded, human interaction isn't my strong suit. Alright, moving on to my talents and skills. I can bake muffins and cupcakes. Oh and I make a pretty mean nutella and peanut butter sandwich, and that concludes the skill section. Hm, as for transportation I only have my bike which means we'd have to go somewhere within a 5 mile radius as I am not in the best of shape. Well I look forward to hearing from you!

xoxo leah.

As you can see I tried to make myself as appealing as possible. I contemplated submitting that but something tells me I wouldn't get any responses. Oh well, story of my life.

A rainy day in the city.

Today officially marks the end of my spring break, which means come Monday I will be forever miserable once again. So to commemorate the last day, I took a train up to Philadelphia. As for those who aren't familiar with Philadelphia think of it as New York City's geeky and socially awkward cousin. It doesn't possess nearly the same magnitude as NYC "attraction" and "store wise", but it makes up for itself in historical value which must count for something... After all our country's constitution was signed here.

We stopped at a local flea market, and who knew they make individual nutella packets. Is that not the most glorious and wonderful thing you have ever seen?

After browsing a couple thrift stores, I found the most beautiful shoes. I felt like I could walk to Emerald city in these. TOO BAD they were a size too big and about $100 over my price limit. Oh believe me, on the inside I was crying.

Strangers Again.

I thought I'd share this beautiful short produced by WongFuProductions. It's kind of sappy in an "Asian Drama" type way, but lovely nevertheless. Enjoy!

Every relationship goes through stages. Where and how each stage develops is ultimately up to each person. While we always hope for the best, we often can't avoid the inevitable.

Boring day was boring.

Apparently I have tons of coursework I should have been working on. I have an English Book analysis paper due next Friday, a French quiz this Monday, a math packet, and tons of history to catch up on. Logarithms anyone? As you can see I've been studying a lot /sarcasm. Studying as in Tumblr, facebook, and movie watching. Oh yeah, I love my life. We got our schedules for next year. I am actually going to kill myself.

I also saw my friends today. We all went out for dinner, and saw a movie. It was cute. Ha, I know you're all surprised but I actually have friends outside the internet. It's weird I know.

If blogspot wasn't such a d I'd have my about me page up, but for some reason I can't create pages? AWESOME.

If all else fails become a prostitute.

Okay, so far we're four for four. I've started this blog four days ago and I've actually managed to construct four posts (some more grammatically incorrect than others...). LOL wouldn't it be funny if I actually came through with my promises.

I'm sorry in advance for the slutty cut of this dress. Let's just pretend that my cleavage isn't hanging out in half of these pictures. Okay, great.

Today was relatively eventful. We went to the supermarket and I got the materials for butterbeer cupcakes, which I have to say turned out fantastically. The man at the sushi counter gave me free sushi which was nice. Probably due to the fact that I looked like a raging whore today... Jokes. OH WELL, who I am to deny free sushi? Then I finally got my glasses tightened. Well they're my father's 'old' glasses, but we share the same prescription incidentally enough. So if I ever feel like looking like a pretentious douche bag I think I'll wear them out. Oh and I also dropped off my job applications. The people said that they'll review my resume and give me a call if I was needed. So you may or may not be looking at a newly hired bakery saleswoman/waitress/hostess/cashier. HEY, we all have to start somewhere right? The downside of being broke. Le sigh.

Polar Bears in Central Park

Yesterday was a blast. The weather was perfect and New York was wonderful as always. Knowing the kind of person I am the last place you'd expect to find me would be the zoo, but LOW AND BEHOLD Miwa and I started our day off in the Central Park Zoo. Unfortunately all the exotic and cool animals decided to be assholes and stayed nestled away in their caves. Everyone kept on crowding around the Polar Bear exhibit, trying to rouse the bear out of his slumber. He wasn't having any of that and continued to sleep. I don't blame him. Having screaming little children tap away at my face, or having someone flash their camera constantly in my eyes doesn't sound the most appealing. Welp, at least we saw ducks and penguins.

Onward bound to Soho. Soho might possibly be my favorite part of the city. In my opinion at least... it has the best clothing stores and amazing food. Incidentally it is also the most expensive district. Every time I go to New York I make sure to hit Topshop. It's a British company so there aren't too many here in the US. Miwa and I mainly just walk through the store crying over the ridiculously over priced clothing. $120.00 for strawberry print pants. Oh no big deal.

(All pictures were taken by me; Canon 500D, 50mm)

Then we proceeded to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I swear I felt my intelligence level increase just by being in that building. You just sound so refined and sophisticated, "Oh where are you girls going?" "Oh you know just the 'Met'" (insert hair flip). They have a beautiful impressionist gallery. We saw paintings by Renoir, Courbet, Bastida, and Degas my absolute favorite. Then we headed over to the modern art. You would hear comments like "I could do that!", "That reminds me of something my five year old son could paint" quite frequently in that section... Oh Jackson Pollock, what a guy. I really enjoyed the photography gallery. Landscape with Houses and Decide Who You Are were my favorite compositions from that collection. The first picture is actually a photograph of module houses Casebere crafted. The lighting was so perfect and realistic. The second image was composed of primarily text "Courier New" specifically. How hipster. Well actually as it was made prior to the invention of computers I think it's safe to say that the text was from an actual type writer.

We finished our day at Grand Central Station. We walked a total 50 blocks that day. Are you impressed yet? THAT IS THE EQUIVALENT TO THE EXERCISE I GET IN A YEAR, well apart from when I shovel my driveway or something. Needless to say I had as much energy in my body as the polar bear at the zoo.

Marching Bands of Manhattan

I love New York. There's nothing quite like the atmosphere and feel of this city. My love for New York is so strong that I want to make it publicly clear and blatantly obvious that I in fact "LOVE NEW YORK". I love it almost enough to wear an I ♥ NY tee-shirt, but then I would end up looking like a tourist... HAHA. Which goes against everything I believe in.
Things I have learned over time
  • Forget everything you once knew about manners and etiquette.
  • If you accidentally stumble into someone while braving the New York streets an obligatory apology is not required.
  • If you are of the female gender... you will get hit on. Hey! I'm not promising anything spectacular, but if you have a face and two legs it's bound to happen. Last year an Asian shoe salesmen kept trying to convince me to go back to his home country with him, where he could make me a queen. OKAY THERE BUDDY.
  • You will never go without coffee or a steady supply of caffeine. There is honestly a Starbucks every twenty feet. It makes sense. How else are you expected to survive "the city that never sleeps"?

The Start of Something

After having built a fairly stable foundation on Tumblr, I feel like I might just be ready to make the transition into becoming a full blown blogger. "WOAH THERE, Leah... Let's not get ahead of ourselves" Okay okay I know I'm a shitty writer and my grammar is absolute garbage, but I thought it would be nice having a place where I could organize my thoughts. I would show a gratuitous picture of myself but I look incredibly gross (also interchangeable with disgusting, nasty, horrifying, and all the synonyms in-between) so I'll leave you with a song.
