French – The feeling that comes from not being in one’s home country.

Despite the deceiving title I have not traveled one bit this entire summer. I've been too busy switching positions from my bed to other various pieces of furniture around the house. By the time school rolls around that heavy feeling of unaccomplishment, and regret will have taken temporary residence in the pit of my stomach. "What the hell did I do these past two months?" oh right, nothing. Perhaps I've just seen too many teen comedies. Cheesy movies such as: The Notebook, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants... (and the list goes on and on) have all raised my expectations to think that A. Come summertime my life will magically transform into a quote "wild, and crazy adventure" or B. By some strange twist of fate I will find the love of my life. Today in the mail, I received a complimentary five dollar off coupon to my nearest pizza place. As this was the highlight of my day, it's no surprise that every summer leaves me thinking "there's always next year".

I feel as if I'm obligated to talk about my birthday which was this passing Wednesday. I turned sixteen. To some that may appear as a pretty big milestone, but I was unimpressed. When I finally reach the age where I'm able to function and live on my own without the assistance of my parents, that's when I'll throw a party. I can barely do a load of wash so that alone is a scary thought. I guess we'll be celebrating two things: my birth, and my keen survival skills, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. A couple of my friends and I went out to dinner, and then they came and spent the night. I particularly like when it's your birthday because people whom you have never spoken to feel obliged to write on your Facebook wall. I'd be kidding myself if I thought people would remember without having the luxury of a social networking site telling them so, because I for one can't even remember what day it is let alone someone else' birthday. After sifting through the posts I have come to the conclusion that this was the most winning birthday message I have ever received via Facebook from none other than "Jordawessome".

There was some pretty stiff competition. You try deciding between that and "HBD". That person didn't even have the stamina to type out a full Happy Birthday. I think I'm going to start doing that from now on. I'm warning you in advance, so you're not offended.

I'll write another post tomorrow. It'll be an interesting experience for sure, but more about that later. Until then.
